Squamish, BC
District of Squamish
Project Description:
Water Street provided detailed design, tendering and construction services for the replacement of the Buckley Sanitary Pump Station in Squamish BC. The original lift station was built in 1972 and required replacement due to poor condition, lack of capacity, and vulnerability to adverse events such as flooding and power failures
The original station had two 5 kW pumping units with a capacity of 46 L/s. This did not meet the anticipated 2050 inflow requirements. The station had basic local controls and did not meet the client’s standards.
The new design features three self-priming pumping units conforming to current design criteria. The system contains an emergency generator for back-up power. Electrical systems are raised for flood protection. This design aims to exceed the District’s technical and operational objectives and improve access to the station, while addressing station resiliency, and minimizing interference with adjacent public areas.
